Boiler help for York

How much does a boiler repair cost in York?
Most boiler repairs in York come in between £120 and £300 depending on the fault and parts. A diagnostic or call-out visit is often £60 to £90, and is sometimes credited against the repair if you go ahead. Get two or three written quotes before agreeing to work.
How often does a boiler need servicing?
Once a year for a gas boiler, ideally before winter. An annual service by a Gas Safe registered engineer keeps most manufacturer warranties valid, and for a rented home it is the landlord's legal duty (the CP12 gas safety record).
Should I repair or replace my boiler?
A repair makes sense on an otherwise sound boiler. Replacement is usually the better value once a boiler is past 10 to 12 years old, parts are hard to get, breakdowns are frequent, or efficiency has dropped. Ask the engineer to price both where a repair is borderline.
What should I do if I can smell gas?
Turn the gas off at the meter, open windows, avoid light switches and naked flames, leave the property, and call the National Gas Emergency line on 0800 111 999. Do not wait for a routine appointment.
